I'm Danielle. I'm public school math teacher in Massachusetts. I'm licensed in math (grades 5 - 8 and 8 - 12) and special education (moderate disabilities, grades 5 - 12). I've taught all grades 6 - 12 in my 11 year teaching career, but I think I'm finally settled as a 7th grade general ed math teacher.
If you didn't catch on, I chose the name Less than 3 Math because "less than 3" forms a sideways heart. I <3 math. Perhaps you are here because you do too.I'm a second career teacher. I started as a social worker. I'm an avid traveler. I've been to some really cool places around the world. I have 4 dogs and a cat. I don't think I could be a teacher without my dogs. They are my stress-relievers, my regular source of laughter, and my best friends.
At the moment, my intention for this space is to help me organize resources I find on the internet and reflect on my teaching practice. I read some math blogs regularly and am an avid follower of #MTBoS, but I often find myself overloaded with ideas and since there are so many it's really hard for me to remember ones that I can apply day to day. If this space works out like I hope it will, I will be able to organize the ideas and resources that I find so that I can implement them in my classroom.
I also think it would be nice to have a diary of my teaching to challenge myself to improve my practice, track my goals, and remain organized. I foresee posting my frustrations and my successes, not so much to accumulate these moments, but to track them. If there are more frustrations than successes, I'd like to challenge myself to find the good and cope with the bad productively.
I do not intend for this space to be used by others, but if you've found me, thank you for coming! I would really appreciate any feedback and advice.
Thanks,
Danielle
